History:

As her looks would suggest she had a proper upbringing - she came from wealth and status but never really looked down on others. Rarely did she ever give too much of herself away to anyone except her best friend since childhood. She enjoyed many things - she was never one for relationships. On the outside she always had to be perfect - sweet, kind, nice, everything that was to be expected of her. Deep down she could be very manipulative when she wanted to be and liked to have things her way and be in control. She also had a biting wit and could easily talk her way out of any situation - quick witted. She could also be flirty if the occasion called for it. But there was a side to Layla that many people didn't see - only the select few. She liked to be a mystery to those that she didn't know and always maintained that air.

She was born and raised somewhere on the shores of Cornwall on their family estate - they also own a residence in London. She was a single child but even so she wasn't always the center in her parents life. That didn't bother her - she had always had a close relationship with them - but not the kind some children had being the only child. When she wanted something she normally got it - end of story. Her parents were social butterflies - her father climbed the latter in the Ministry of Magic and her mother had been a socialite. Her best friend's family was very close to her own. If one of them had been a boy their marriage would probably have been arranged. Her family didn't take a stand on muggleborn wizards or witches - it wasn't much of their concern really.

She loves to fly and gain knowledge. She also loves to play her games and have her fun. She can get easily bored at times - she uses her amusements to keep herself busy and her work - yet she still has time to have a social life. She likes to be in control at all times and she has yet to meet someone outside her family that would be willing to stand up to her and take that control away. When it comes to dislikes she can't stand people that hang over her. True she never pushed them away - mostly for her image. She can't stand when her reputation is tampered with and will do anything in her power to make sure it stays in place. This sounds a bit self-centered yes but image was important to her especially if she aimed for the position of Minister for Magic. She was indifferent to relationships - she never likes to title them. She wasn't waiting for the right guy to come along but if he did he would definitely be someone unexpected for her. Anything was possible after all.

Layla wears a necklace she wears that was handed down to her from mother to daughter - this had been done for many generations. It had been passed down to her from her mother to her. Her best friend had one just like it passed down through her family. The two best friends shared a special secret with the necklaces that forever linked them.

During her Hogwarts years Layla had been a Ravenclaw. She was a Prefect during her 5th and 6th year at Hogwarts and made Head Girl in her 7th. She scored top marks in her class and excelled in subjects like Charms, Transfiguration, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions and Astronomy. Then again she did well in all her subjects. She had been a member of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team as a Chaser for 4 years - she was never interested in becoming Captain - turning the position down. Flying was always one of her favorite things to do.

With top marks she easily obtained a position in the Ministry of Magic and went straight to work. Her parents always had high hopes for her - that she would rise up the latter and make a name for herself. True she could always work off her family name but that wasn't her case. She was ambitious and that ambition led her to one thing. She wanted to someday be Minister for Magic. She would do whatever it would take to get there. That was one goal she had in life. She could easily be a socialite like her mother but she wanted more for herself. And that was exactly what she was going to do.

Besides the power of persuasion which comes naturally for her personality she as an infinity for Charms and other such subjects that give her an edge. She uses knowledge as her tool as well as her quick wit. She's only human so she can't do everything she would like to do. She tends to get herself in certain situations since she can be attracted to many different types of things. One of these days her games will come back to bite her but for now she enjoys life.

Description (Physical):

Standing at 5'6" Layla is an uncommon beauty with long, wavy reddish-brown hair that falls past her shoulders and down her back. She has a deep-set of dark blue eyes and long luscious lashes. Her style of dress was always elegant and gave off a certain 'air' of sophistication and class that she had always possessed. She might look delicate but there was more to this beauty then meets the eye.

Layla Armelle Preston walked aimlessly through the hallways of the Ministry of Magic. The click of her heels echoed throughout the halls as she walked proudly around the ministry standing at her full height of 5'6". Her long reddish brown hair fell past her shoulders and down her back in waves as those dark piercing blue eyes gazed around carefully. Very few people were about at this time. She assumed because it was the lunch hour and most of ministry workers were either in the cafeteria or sitting at their desks finishing last minute paper work.

It had been an extra long day with piles of her own paper work on her desk - as usual she found it to be so mundane at times - but she would do what she needed to do to reach her goal - to be Minister for Magic - she was an ambitious girl to say the least at twenty-five years of age. She knew she should make an appearance in the office but she really wasn't in the mood to do so at the moment - she was on her break and she didn't really feel like eating at the moment. Some of the people she worked with just annoyed her - and she avoided them at all costs as much as possible - she was never rude unless provoked. She also happened to be bored which was quite unfortunate - she loved having her fun and games on the side.

There was nothing to do in these halls at the moment so she would probably end up going back her office to finish up some more paper work. Stopping briefly she walked over to the nearest window and looked down outside the building - she could see people walking around down on the streets but they wouldn't be able to see her. She gently leaned her shoulder against the wall as she idly fiddled with the chain of her necklace around her neck

Hello! Tis me Lily - this application is pretty much done but there might be some changes. I literally pulled this character out of the closet - it's been months since I've played her but she fits nicely if I do say so myself. So with that said - just wanted to let you know!

Role Play Sample: Chris walked into his office in the Ministry of Magic. He had had this job for a few years now and he loved it. What the Ministry workers didn't know is that he is part of the Order of the Phoenix. Chris grabbed a peice of parchment and started to write some stuff for the Ministry
